Forward Ropapa Mensah was the catalyst for Nashville SC in Saturday night’s rivalry win over Memphis 901 FC. After both teams went scoreless for the first 78 minutes, Mensah provided the spark for Nashville to prompt what would be a shower of second-half goals for the home side.

The first goal of the night started when Mensah crossed a deadly ball into Memphis’ box to Matt LaGrassa who, with a few touches, barreled his way to the goal to slot his shot by Memphis’ Jeff Caldwell.

Just three minutes later, Mensah found a goal of his own off of a Justin Davis corner. His initial header was blocked by Caldwell, but after the deflection, Mensah quickly pounced on the rebound and put away Nashville’s second goal of the night.

Both the goal and assist were Mensah’s first of the 2019 USL Championship Season in three games played. In 2018, the forward had six goals and six assists.

Mensah and Nashville SC take on the Charleston Battery next Saturday, April 20 in their first of three consecutive road games before returning home on Saturday, May 8 against the Tampa Bay Rowdies.
