Gockel Ahortor reflects on his fantastic goal against Hearts of Oak at the Tema Sports Stadium in the Week 12 of the 2014/15 First Capital Plus Premier League.

The midfielder came off the bench to seal a well deserved victory for the ‘Eleven Is To One’ in a terrific atmosphere, scoring in the injury time of the second half.

Having scored against the Phobians from 30 yards in the same fixture, same venue last year, Ahortor revealed he was very focused and reading the game whiles on the bench.

“Last season I started this fixture and I scored from a powerful drive but this time I was on the bench. I was monitoring the game trying to pick the weaknesses of Hearts, was very focused,” he told www.interalliesfc.com

The jersey numbered 23 man insists his goal came out of pure instincts as nothing came to his mind than to fire from long range when he had the chance to shoot.

“They were opening up spaces but closing the defence getting to the dying embers of the game, I think they wanted a draw because we were on them all game, we also wanted to carry the maximum points because it was our game to win.”

“I saw Simon Martey and Prosper Kasim making a combination in front of me and I felt I should go closer and shoot because it was tempting.”

“Fortunately for me, I had the ball set for me and nothing came to mind than to hit, so I did just that and thanks goodness it was the winning goal.”

Ahortor’s wonderful goal ensured Inter Allies beat Hearts of Oak in the club’s history with a 2-1 win.
