Chief Executive Officer of Inter Allies Football Club, Delali Senaye, has maintained that midfielder Clifford Aboagye is still on their books amid speculation linking the player several European clubs.
Aboagye, who had a stellar showing at the just ended FIFA World Youth Championships in Turkey is reportedly being courted by Italian side Udinese and FC Barcelona but Senaye told Citi Sports in an interview on Thursday that Aboayge is not leaving the club at least for now.
He also revealed that the club’s relationship with Udinese and Spanish club Granada could determine where Aboagye eventually ends up.
“As we speak, International Allies Football Club owns the economic and federative rights of Clifford Aboagye. We have had several offers for him but we are not interested in those calls.
However, if a club like Udinese shows concrete interest, we will certainly consider them first. This is because of the relationship we have with them. They offer us help in certain areas of football and so, we also give them high priority on players they inquire about.”
Our players often travel there for educational trips of about three weeks. Aboagye himself has been on those trips before and so, Udinese will surely have the first right of purchase on the player.”
He went further to confirm media reports that had placed Aboagye in the sights of Soanish champions Barcelona but also indicated that this happened a while back and Inter Allies eventually turned down the offer.
“I have been reading that Barcelona want to sign the player in the past few days and what I can say is that it is true that they came to us but that was two years ago.
Unfortunately, they wanted to work through a third party and that was too complicated for us and we walked away. I do not support such business. Barcelona is a massive club but I cannot agree to a deal like this and regret my decision after a few years.”
Aboagye was voted as the third best player in the World Under 20 Championship behind France captain Paul Pogba and Uruguayan attacker Nicolas Lopez.
