Inter Allies on Sunday afternoon beat regional rivals Great Olympics 1-0 to earn six matches unbeaten run in the second round of the 2014/15 First Capital Plus Premier League.
The Tema Sports Stadium saw the “Eleven Is To One” complete back-to-back home wins with Sheriff Deo Mohammed scoring in the fist half to win the game.
Coach Paa Kwesi Fabin made just a single change to his squad that defeated Wa All Stars 1-0 at the same venue last week.
Gockel Ahortor started in midfield with Emmanuel Nettey in place of Lawson Sabah.
Former Inter Allies coach Yaw Acheampong returned to face his former employers for the first time since leaving in January with a very aggressive Olympics side.
The visitors were the ones to settle first as they made incursions in the early embers of the match that saw Olympics attack from all angles.
However the defensive pair of Joseph Aidoo and Baba Mensah with couple of saves from goalkeeper Osei Kwame sent all efforts of Olympics into the “bush”
It took just eighteen minutes for Sheriff Deo Mohammed to grab his 8th of the season with a very beautiful curling finish.
His strike partner Ropapa Mensah received a pass from the midfield and opened the defence with a ‘delicious’ through pass for Sheriff Mohammed to meet with a curler over Osei Boateng.
Inter Allies kept the momentum and kept looking for the second but all efforts went futile until the end of the first half break.
Replicating the first half, Yaw Acheampong’s men adopted a push formation and attacked immediately referee Patrick Kyeremateng’s whistle went for the second half to begin.
This time their pressing game didn’t hold for long as a Joseph Aidoo led Inter Allies boys proved to be a nut to crack. They blocked all Olympics lines to get the equaliser and were unlucky after the attackers missed a couple of chances.
Paa Kwesi Fabin’s men held on to their slender lead with a very determined game till the end of the full time whistle.
The win has pushed Inter Allies three places up with 30 points and 7th on the league table after 21 matches played so far.
