Inter Allies once again drew at home 1-1 to Ashanti Gold at the Tema Sports Stadium on a sunny Wednesday afternoon to clear week 18 fixture of the 2014/15 First Capital Plus Premier League.
Bernard Morrison gave Ashanti Gold the lead early in the second half, but Inter Allies leveled with a beautiful Eliasu Fuseini’s strike and Inter Allies couldn’t convert their pressure into genuine scoring opportunities.
Coach Paa Kwesi Fabin made several changes to the side that drew 1-1 with WAFA last week.
Captain Joseph Aidoo and Patrick Kpozo returned to the starting line up from the FIFA under 20 World Cup with Black Satellites.
The former paired with Baba Mensah in defence.
Abass Mohammed was shifted from left back to his favorite position, upfront, just behind the striker.
Patrick Kpozo then picked his left back position.
It was end-to-end action at Tema Sports Stadium as soon as the kick off whistle was blown, both sides made their intentions known but it was the ‘Eleven Is To One’ boys who were on top.
Despite getting some chances of their own, both sides failed to see the back of the net and the first half ended in a goalless draw.
Although both sides finished the half level with three chances each, AshGold defenders faced very little pressure in the opening 45, even though they got an offside goal disallowed.
The second half reignited the intensity of the game and both sides began exchanging chances.
AshGold created a dangerous opportunity that resulted in a goal five minutes into the second half.
Aidoo failed to clear a ball one time in the middle, Bernard Morrison too advantage of the error and made an impressive run to finish it off coolly.
But AshGold didn’t enjoy the lead for long, intensive pressure from Inter Allies saw substitute Fuseini Eliasu struck with his left foot for a beautiful equaliser.
As the game approached the final minutes, Inter Allies provided several attempts for a second and probably to secure the win.
After three minutes of stoppage time, the referee blew the final whistle, resulting in a 1-1 draw.
