Inter Allies were denied the chance to win their first ever silverware at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday June 8, losing to Asante Kotoko 2-1 to win the 2013/14 MTN FA Cup.

Bancey scored late the winner in the dying minutes of extra time to register a 2-1 win victory for Kotoko against Inter Allies after Richard Mpong had scored first and Talla Ndiaye, with the equalizer.

In what would have been a dream start for the “Eleven Is To One” Boys saw Inter Allies dominate, having controlled the game just some few minutes after blast of the kick off whistle. 

Niare Benogo picked Fatawu Safiu from the center of the Porcupine’s defense, the striker played colleague Talla Ndiaye through to face goalkeeper Joseph Addo who made a nice save against Talla’s shot to deny Inter Allies the opening goal.

However, when everyone thought Inter Allies had settled well in to the game, the league champions struck the opener. A blunder from the defense played Richard Mpong through to blast the ball top to the back of the net to create the opener in the 9th minute.

Inter Allies hit back dominating and displaying their beautiful attractive football that forced the fans to applaud, even though they had the urgency and were dictating the pace of game, they failed to penetrate.

The game’s tempo changed as both teams had settled in well. Inter Allies started to pressure from the wings using the pace of Fredrick Opoku and Talla Ndiaye but Kotoko held their grip to send the 1-0 lead to the break.

A refreshed and purposeful start to the second half, Inter Allies took the fight to Kotoko replicating the early embers of the first half.

Ndiaye did no wrong this time slotting home the equalizer on the 58th minute mark after Sheriff Mohammed played him through.

The pace of the game after the equalizer was incredible as Inter Allies strafed Asante Kotoko but the Porcupines courageously repelled them.

To the credit of Inter Allies, the Eleven Is To One boys virtually won the aerial challenges and certainly it was game on.

With parity restored, the game was brought to balance, different ambitions into the game for both sides propelled the display of the defenders to pull their maximum best, Kotoko searching for their historic double while Inter Allies, their first trophy.

The fans roaring on top of their voices made the stadium noisy and the euphoria, you cant beat it.

Fans of Asante Kotoko stood up in agony and was brought to a standstill when Akuffo’s free-kick hit the crossbar, Inter Allies were very close to concede their second goal and for Kotoko a chance to restore their lead went by.

Referee Agbovi finally whistled for the end of proceedings taking the final to extra time.

Kotoko looked certainly to kill the game in the extra time, two great attacks with one going inches wide and the other saw Dauda Diop clear off the line.

With penalties approaching both side looked tired and were ready for the penalty shootouts until Seidu Bancey nicked the winner.

The striker had a simple tap in after goalkeeper Osei Kwame spilled a cross straight to him with almost two minutes to end of extra time. Kotoko held on and won the final 2-1.
