Before the start of the GFA/NC Special Competition, 8 players from the Club’s Youth team (Cedar Stars) were promoted to the first team.

They had the opportunity compete with the senior team in the country’s elite division.

We saw some flashes of talent from players such as Abdallah Warris who managed to get his debut goal and Gidoen Asoandzie who got an assist during the GFA/NC Special Competition.

At the same time, forward Ishmael Otutey impressed at the heart of defence.

Here’s a look at how the youth team members fared in the GFA/NC Special Competition:

PATRICK AMARH:

The young midfielder was a straight starter for then head coach Rashid Iddi, he made 11 appearances and started 10 of those.

The former Cedar Stars Academy captain formed a middle partnership with team captain Michel Otou and Desmond Abuga.

ISHHMAEL OTUTEY:

Ishmael was very vital for the Capelli Boys with his impressive displays. He was the key man in the heart of defense.

Making 11 appearances, starting and completing all he won the trusts of his teammates in the defensive setup.

ABDALLAH WARRIS:

Warris had a fine time in the GFA/NC Special Competition with 9 matches. As a center back he registered a goal in our 3-1 defeat to Karela United in Aiyianse.

He also recorded two assists to his name, making him one of the Club’s top performers in the competition.

GIDEON ASOANDZIE:

Injury delayed his debut with the first team and had to wait until match day 5 to get his first game. He came on for Emmanuel Kuzuma in the away game against Karela United.

He went on to make 7 appearances for the first team in total and got one assist to his name.

ALEX ASO:

The young forward made 4 starts from 7 matches before ending his campaign with injury.

He did excellently well when got chance to play against giants Hearts of Oak at the Accra Sports Stadium.

CLEMENT ARYEE:

Clement made his first team debut in the opening game against Elmina Sharks in Tema and recorded a clean sheet. He continued with two other starts against WAFA in Sogakope and Liberty in Dansoman, making appearances in the first 3 matches.

In total, he made 5 appearances , with 4 starts and a clean sheet.

ABRAHAM OKYERE:

The young middle man gradually warmed himself into the first team, getting his first game against Karlela United in Aiyinase.

He continued to make 6 appearances including five starts and completing four of them.

ROLAND ADDI:

Roland made two appearances for the Capelli Boys in the GFA/NC Special Competition.

He made his full debut against Elmina Sharks at the Tema Sports Stadium before coming off the bench against Liberty Professionals in Dansoman.

Each year, the Club allows youth players who have excelled and gained maturity to join the senior squad.

Cedar Stars Academy has been a breeding ground for the senior side, Inter Allies.
