I psyched myself to change the game – Effiong Nsungusi:

On loan Inter Allies forward Effiong Nsungusi Jnr has disclosed that he was self motivated to make an impact when the opponents scored the opener at the time he was ready to come on as a substitute.

With the league leaders, Vejle taking the lead in the 62nd minute, Effiong came on for Liam Jordan in the 66th minute. 

A minute after joining the action, he scored an absolute screamer that gave HB Koge an equalizer in the 67th minute.

“While I was warming up and being ready to come on they scored against us. That changed something mentally in me.”

“I only thought about how I could come on and make a difference for the team. I know that with five games left, a lost here we take the relegation battle out of our hands.”

The youngster explained that he has improved his striking instincts after having to practice regularly during the period of lockdown due to the outbreak of the Covid19 virus.

“The first touch I get on the ball is the shot. But when you’ve practiced it so many times you build up a faith in yourself that you can do it.”

“In the period where we couldn’t train due to the virus I’ve mostly done something like that. But it has always gone wide.”

On his rich vein of formed, Effiong believes  the team atmosphere has helped him settle well at the club.

“The team has really welcomed me. At first when I got here I was a little shaky, but with time and I fit in better and feel better here.”

“I feel lucky to have some teammates who are always there for me and trying to help me.”
