Inter Allies defeated Gomoa Fetteh Feyenoord Academy on Sunday to reach the final of the 2013/2014 MTN FA Cup at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Fatawu Safiu scored the only goal in the match just minutes after the start of the second half, to push the team to the historic final of the FA Cup for the first time.
Herbert Addo’s soldiers kicked off with a very promising start after striker Abdul Fatawu Safiu blasted away a half chance in the opening embers of the game.
Feyenoord with a very quick reply, Samuel Tetteh beat Patrick Kpozo on the flanks to set up a one-on-one chance with goalkeeper Osei Kwame but the latter pulled off a wonderful save to deny Feyenoord the opener.
With Inter Allies sitting deep, Feyenoord launched their possessive football exhibiting their inter-passing football however, they had nothing to show after pressing high and missing chances, it ended goalless at half-time.
Just as the first half, Inter Allies started the second half very well once again and this time Fatawu Safiu got it right slotting home from close range to open the scoring.
Niare Benogo picked Frederick Yamoah on the flanks, he beat his marker on the edge of the area, had a miscue cross just to see it beat the goalkeeper and defenders of Feyenoord to find striker Abdul Fatawu Safiu who had an empty net to tap in on the 48th minute.
Hitting back angrily, Feyenoord bounced back applying pressure from all angles seeking the equaliser, hitting the crossbar several times.
Also goalkeeper Osei Kwame put up crucial saves on countless occasions to deny Feyenoord the equaliser, it ended 1-0.
Inter Allies are now through to the final of the MTN FA Cup and awaits the winner of Asante Kotoko and King Faisal on 17th May for the final match on May 25.
