Fantastic Evans Mensah shines but Ghana fails to secure 2020 Olympic Games ticket:

The former Allies forward was on his all time high at the just ended U23 Africa Cup of National when Ghana faced South Africa in the 3rd place match.

The HJK Helsinki stole the show and received plaudits from all over the world. The youngster bagged a beautiful long range goal and an assist.

The Black Meteors failed to qualify for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo after losing on penalties to South Africa on Friday evening.

Ghana came back twice to take the game to straight penalty shoot outs after a 2-2 draw in the 3rd place match played at the Cairo Stadium.


South Africa held on to their 15th minute goal till Ghana came back into the game in the second half after Evans Mensah slotted home in the 50th minute.

Ghana had to equalize again in the 85th minute through Samuel Obeng after Evans Mensah has done all the dirty works after Mahlatsi restored their lead in the 62nd minute.

The Black Meteors however lost the shoot outs after missing three kicks with South Africa securing a ticket to the Olympic Games after winning the shoot outs 6-5.

The Black Meteors have however missed out of the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
